What’s in the community
Formerly a city, Aylmer has been part of Gatineau since amalgamation in 2002. Aylmer has little industry and is primarily a residential area. Located on the Ottawa River, it is noted for its recreational opportunities thanks to its many golf courses, green spaces, bike paths, spas and a marina. Many of its shops and services are on Chemin d’Aylmer, a traditional main street, and Aylmer is part of the STO public transit system. Aylmer is served by a mix of French and English elementary and high schools.
