Members of Ottawa’s housing industry have captured three trophies at the 2022 national housing awards.
RND Construction, Minto Communities and Park View Homes won top honours at the
Canadian Home Builders’ Association’s (CHBA) National Awards for Housing Excellence, where a total of 48 top prizes were awarded.
Ottawa had 17 finalists in this year’s awards, which saw a record 800-plus entries in the prestigious competition.
RND Construction, which was a finalist in three categories at the CHBA event and is a regular winner at the national, provincial and local levels, took home the prize with Cedar Ridge Designs in the kitchen renovation under $70,000 category.
The kitchen, which blends good looks, functionality and ample storage room, was also a winner at the 2021 Ottawa awards.
“This is our fourth win at the national level,” says RND president Roy Nandram. “My team is proud to be one of the three winners in Ottawa.”

Minto Communities, with Building Energy Inc. and Tanya Collins Design, won the best production Net Zero home award for its Caraway model (a Net Zero home produces as much energy as it consumes). The Caraway, which features an Arts and Crafts-inspired exterior and soaring, 20-foot ceilings in the foyer and great room, was the grand prize in the 2021 CHEO Dream of a Lifetime lottery.
It was also a finalist in this year’s detached production home, 2,401 to 2,400 square foot category, as was another Minto home, the Waverley.
