Findlay Creek Village model homes

Findlay Creek Village in the south end of Ottawa opened in 2002 and remains a popular destination for home buyers. The master-planned community features two builders — Tartan Homes and Tamarack Homes — and a total of 16 models.

Both Tartan and Tamarack have a mix of two-storey singles and townhome models. Here’s what you’ll see when you visit the Findlay Creek Village model homes. For more, check our separate article on the models.

Sirius, Tartan Homes

The Sirius is a new 35-foot single-family home floor plan for Tartan. It comes with 2,635 square feet and either four bedrooms plus a loft or there’s an option to turn the loft into a fifth bedroom. Storage is a priority in this home, with two walk-in closets in the primary suite and walk-ins in two of the secondary bedrooms.

A very handy feature is the connection from the garage to the kitchen: the garage leads to the mudroom, which leads to the pantry, which then leads to the kitchen, making for handy access for things like groceries. There’s also a main-floor flex space that could be enclosed for a private home office.

The basement includes another optional bedroom and full bath, along with the finished family room.

Vega, Tartan Homes

The Vega is another new 35-foot single-family home floor plan. Slightly larger than the Sirius, it comes with 2,980 square feet and either four bedrooms plus loft or five bedrooms. In this plan the main-floor flex space is enclosed as an office and the kitchen, living room and dining room are open concept.

The home includes a very generous walk-in pantry and there’s an optional wet bar in the dining room, which is shown in the model and is a great option for entertaining.

Like the Sirius, there’s a finished basement space and the option for another bedroom and full bathroom.

Turner, Tartan Homes

The two-storey, single-family Turner is 2,709 square feet on a 38-foot lot. This model is outfitted with standard (or included) finishes to show what you can get without having to pay for upgrades.

A generous white kitchen with dark hardwood flooring and a breakfast bar opens into the great room with a gas fireplace and an adjacent dining room. Patio doors off the kitchen add to the natural light flooding the main living area. There’s also a study with French doors and a full mudroom on the ground floor.

Upstairs, three of the four bedrooms have walk-in closets, and the four-piece ensuite features a double-sink vanity.

Cambridge, Tartan Homes

At over 3,500 square feet, Tartan’s Cambridge is a large home on a 45-foot lot. 

On the main floor, the kitchen features two-tone cabinetry, some windowed, open shelving oak hardwood flooring, windowed display cabinets and a patio door. The main floor also includes separate dining and living rooms and a study, which can be converted into a guest suite.

Upstairs, there are four bedrooms plus a loft, which can become a fifth bedroom. All four bedrooms have walk-in closets, and both the master and one other bedroom have ensuites. 

Cortland, Tartan Homes

The three-bedroom Cortland is a 2,082-square-foot townhome with a second-floor laundry room and a finished basement with an electric fireplace.

The model home’s great room features neutral tones, emphasizing spaciousness and the natural light from the large windows and patio door. The Cortland’s kitchen is open to the great room and the dining room, includes an eating bar and has an optional walk-in pantry.

The second floor has three bedrooms with an optional ensuite layout. 

The basement in the Cortland has a finished rec room and an optional roughed-in bathroom. 

Gala, Tartan Homes

The three-bedroom Gala townhome is 2,444 square feet and includes a finished basement. The home has an open-concept main living area, including the kitchen with an eating bar, a living room, dining room and great room.

The second floor includes a loft, which can be transformed into a fourth bedroom. The ensuite in the master bedroom includes a double-sink vanity and stylish dark faucets and cabinet hardware.

The basement has a large, finished recreation room with an electric fireplace.

Fuji, Tartan Homes

The three-plus-bedroom Fuji is a 1,987-square-foot townhome.

The main floor includes a mudroom off the garage and an open-concept kitchen, dining area and great room. The model’s great room is designed in warm browns and greys with retro-accented accessories and features large windows.

Upstairs, there’s a double-sink vanity and walk-in shower in the master bedroom’s streamlined ensuite as well as a second bathroom and full laundry room.

The model’s finished basement features a linear fireplace with a floor-to-ceiling surround and dark wood flooring.

Spartan, Tartan Homes

Tartan Homes’ Spartan is a 1,641-square-foot townhome with three bedrooms. It’s decorated using the builder’s standard (or included) finishes so show what you can get without having to pay for upgrades.

A patio door off the dining/great room area adds natural daylight to the main living area, which includes an open-concept kitchen with an eating bar and a classic U-shaped work area. The model home’s kitchen, open to dining/great room, features dark, sophisticated cabinetry with undermount lighting.  

Upstairs are three bedrooms and a laundry room, while the basement features a large, finished recreation room with an electric fireplace. 

Kensington, Tamarack Homes

The Kensington is a two-storey single with 2,880 square feet and four bedrooms on a 45-foot lot. There’s a private home office at the front that’s convenient for having work visitors without interfering with the family’s space, which is stretched across the back of the home.

Features include a generous mudroom and pantry, an equally generous laundry on the second floor and a finished family room downstairs. The model is designed in a Napa Valley style emphasizing a cosy atmosphere, natural woods and warm tones with vintage elements.

Hamilton, Tamarack Homes

The Hamilton is the smallest of Tamarack’s two-storey single models at Findlay Creek. It comes with 2,750 square feet and four bedrooms on a 35-foot lot. There’s a covered front porch and double-car garage.

The main floor has an open-concept kitchen and living room at the back and a separate dining room and home office with French doors in the middle of the home. Along with the bedrooms upstairs, there’s a cosy loft and the laundry room, while downstairs is a family room with the option for another bedroom and full bathroom. The model shows this basement option.

Dover, Tamarack Homes

The Dover is a two-storey single on a 45-foot lot with 2,995 square feet and four bedrooms. An unexpected feature of the main floor is mudroom access to the backyard, as well as the garage and a landing down just a few steps from the main floor.

There is both a separate formal dining room and a dinette beside the kitchen for flexible family living and there’s an option to add a butler’s pantry between the kitchen and dining room (the model shows this option), along with opening up the study at the front of the home to create a formal living room. Upstairs, three of the four bedrooms have walk-in closets.

Like Tamarack’s other singles, it comes with a finished basement family room (and nine-foot ceilings!). Speaking of ceilings, Tamarack’s standard is to have smooth ceilings (that is, no stippling) throughout its singles.

Oxford, Tamarack Homes

The Oxford is one of Tamarack’s largest singles, at 3,550 square feet on a 45-foot lot. It comes with four bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms, plus the option of a fifth bedroom and another full bath in the basement.

The main floor has separate formal and informal areas, with the living room and dining room up front, a private study in the middle and the family room and kitchen at the back. There’s also a dinette in the kitchen and a butler’s pantry to the dining room.

Upstairs, The four bedrooms are located on each corner, with a very large ensuite in the primary suite and a second bedroom with an ensuite and walk-in closet that can be a secondary master. There’s also a large laundry room with window to bring in natural light.

Chelsea, Tamarack Homes

Tamarack’s Chelsea townhome includes an oversized garage and a finished basement.

The 2,125-square-foot Chelsea features three bedrooms and a second-floor laundry.

The main floor has an open-concept kitchen, dining room and living room. The kitchen has a walk-in pantry and there’s a fireplace in the living room. The model home’s living room has a transitional design theme, and patio doors off the dining room lead to a backyard deck.

Upstairs, all the bedrooms have walk-in closets, including two in the master bedroom. There’s also a second-floor laundry room.

The basement has a 422-square-foot finished area.

Eton, Tamarack Homes

Tamarack’s open-concept Eton townhomes features a covered front porch and is 1,868 square feet.

The open-concept main living area includes a walk-in corner pantry in the kitchen and patio doors off the dining room that lead to the rear deck. There’s a corner fireplace in the living room. 

Upstairs are three bedrooms, and the basement has a 374-square-foot finished family room with an optional fireplace.

Cambridge, Tamarack Homes

The three-bedroom Cambridge townhome is 2,155 square feet and has an oversized garage.

The main living area is brightly lit thanks to large windows and a patio door in the living and dining space, and the light-coloured furnishings of the model home add to the airy feeling. 

The second storey includes a walk-in laundry room, and the basement has a finished family room with a fireplace in the model home. 

Hudson, Tamarack Homes

Tamarack’s Hudson townhome is 2,165 square feet with three bedrooms, 2.5 baths and an oversized garage. 

The model home is done in soothing neutrals that are layered to create an inviting space, with warm metals and light woods and crisp white. the main floor features both generous windows and a patio door leading to the rear deck. The kitchen includes a walk-in pantry.

Upstairs, there’s a laundry room and walk-in closets in two of the three bedrooms. The basement features 455 square feet of finished space.
