About Metric Homes

Founded in 2000, Metric Homes is an award-winning builder with deep roots in the Ottawa area and a unique blend of expertise in custom homes and small-scale production building.

We bring a boutique approach, which means you deal directly with one of the company owners to ensure your home is exactly what you want — and expect — it to be, whether we’re building you a custom home, you’re choosing one of our existing floor plans or you opt for something in between.

We build in master-planned communities, in estate subdivisions and on privately owned lots. We are known for building energy-efficient homes on wide lots where more design variation is possible, leading to village-like streetscapes and a warm sense of community.

And Metric Homes breaks the pre-conceived notion that a custom — or customized — home is more expensive. Our unique process and pricing structure ensures you do not pay any more for a custom design than you would for an “off-the shelf” plan.

We were also the first in Ottawa to introduce the Home Within a Home concept — a true multigenerational option that marries two homes into one — and have since expanded the concept to add sought-after features of the Home Within a Home plan into a standard home for a more price-sensitive choice.

We are an Energy Star builder, with Net Zero certification. We are also members of the Greater Ottawa Home Builders’ Association, are registered with Tarion and are licensed under the Home Construction Regulatory Authority.
